Colour picking
Allows a colour from an image to be sampled and can be used on any other feature
Textured fill
A range of textures can be applied to a shape
Can be used to improve presentation in compliance with the design element
Gradient filler
Shows one colour gradually fading into another
Colours, patterns and direction can be changed
Effective at adding tone to a presentation to give it form
Text wrap
Text following the edge of an image (“wrapped”)
Way of incorporating images in and creating rhythm
- wrap around right-hand side
- wrap around left-hand side
- edit positions to wrap around an object
Reverse
Strong contrast between text and background
Eg white on blue, yellow on black
Extended text
Long sections of body text
Flow text
Text can be set to follow a line or shape
Helps achieve unity
Eye catching contrast
Leads the readers eye through a layout
Copy and paste
Can repeat and image elsewhere in the document
Cut and Paste
Used to remove an image or frame from one document of the page to another
Orientation
Direction of the page
- landscape
- portrait
Line-spacing
Spacing between lines can be enlarged for easier reading
Only works to a point- text can become disconnected and more difficult to read
Can also be made smaller to help fit information
Transparency
Allows objects to be made see-through
The amount of transparency can be chosen
Often used on top of an image to make text legible
Cropping
Removes outer proportions of an image, so smaller in size
Square cropping- most simple form, only relevant part is shown
Full cropping- removes the entire background from the image, can enable more suitable background to be used, creates focal point and visually interesting shape
Drop Shadow
Casts shadow behind an image or text
Creates 3D effect and suggests depth
Can be used to emphasise an image
Drop capital
Enlarging the first letter
Emphasises start of article
Contrast in size
