Delirium
- dementia symptoms come on quickly
- marked shift in awareness
- hospital setting, usually
- usually lasts few hours to day
- rapid onset
Major Neurocognitive Disorder
- formerly dementia
- serious issues with attention, language, memory, cognitions, motor skills
- usually nursing home setting
- can’t function independently
Mild Neurocognitive Disorder
- precursor to Major ND
- some noticeable decline, but can maintain some independence
- may need more support
- person may notice memory problems
Somatic Symptom Disorder
- client has somatic issue
- documented illness
- concern over illness symptoms impede functioning
- at least 6 months
Illness Anxiety Disorder
- rarely have somatic symptoms
- intense fear of disease, no real illness
- used to be hypochondriac
- 6 months
Conversion Disorder
- psychological issue converts to somatic symptoms
- “blind rage” example
- client loses functioning of limb from trauma
Factitious Disorder
- likes attention of being sick
- act sick to get doctors or others attention
Malingering
- faking illness to get something
- fakes illness to get out of work, school
Factitious Disorder by Proxy
- Manchusin Syndrome
- parent continuously takes child to doctor even if not ill
Anorexia Nervosa
- very thin, intense fear of getting fat, poor body image, does not want to gain weight
- restricts diet to point does not meet nutritional needs
- often exercises excessively, needs medical care
Bulimia Nervosa
- binge eating in large portions of food, feel out of control
- recurrent purging behavior to prevent weight gain
Binge Eating Disorder
- binge eating out of control
- feeling disgusted, shame
- not purging
Unspecified Eating Disorder
- does not meet criteria of anorexia, bulimia
- purging but not binging
- normal weight but poor body image
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
- not about weight
- displeasure with body parts(nose, ear, etc)
- people who get excessive plastic surgery
Depersonalization Disorder
- experience reality intact
- reports feeling out of body, disconnected to reality
- feels surreal
Dissociative Amnesia
-sudden forgetting of personal info usually after extreme stress, shock ( war, trauma event)
Dissociative Identity Disorder
- multiple personality disorder
- person has 2 or more distinct personalities, can’t remember other state
Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder
- pain during intercourse
- tensing of pelvis during sex, extreme displeasure
- usually in victims of rape, abuse, DV
Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder
-lack of sex interest, arousal, no fantasies.can be temporary or continuous
Insomnia Disorder
- difficulty sleeping 3x a week for 3 months
- rule out manic phase, also rule out MDD or GAD
Hypersomnolence Disorder
- excessive sleepiness 7+ hours, have difficulty with energy, being awake
- rule out MDD, substance abuse
Nightmare Disorder
-wakes up with real nightmares
Non-Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Disorder
- sleep terror disorder
- recurrent incomplete sleeping
- waking up, screaming, sleepwalking, can’t remember at all
Central Sleep Apnea
- stops breathing while asleep
- snores, gasps for air, tired during the day
Narcolepsy
-sudden attack of sleep, loss of muscle, daytime fatigue
Intermittent Explosive Disorder
- trouble controlling impulses
- outbursts disproportionate to situations
- rule out personality disorder, intoxication
Kleptomania
Compulsive stealing for things not needed
Trichotillomania
Compulsion to pull out their hair, often after some form of abuse or life trauma
Self inflicted shame
Substance Use Disorder
- mild to severe
- failure to perform at work, school, home
- impacts social relationships
- made efforts to stop
- dependant, uses to avoid withdrawal
Substance Induced Disorder
- overarching with Intoxication or Withdrawal
- intoxication-someone using the substance
- withdrawal-getting off the substance
