Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) vs. Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

A

OCD has obsessions, compulsions. OCPD is more inflexible, controlling of people, rigid rule following. OCPD doesn’t think their behaviors are irrational, whereas OCD is distressed by them.

A

manic episodes that last at least 7 days, or by manic symptoms so severe the person needs hospital care. Usually depressive episodes occur as well, typically lasting 2 weeks.

Pattern of depressive episodes and hypomanic episodes but not full blown manic episodes

Cyclothymic disorder`

A

Related to bipolar disorder. Numerous periods of hypomanic symptoms as well as numerous periods of depressive symptoms lasting at least 2 years (1 for children and adolescents)
