Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Sigs before age 5
Deficiency is social communication & interaction
Stereotyped repetitive behaviors
Hypo or hypersesitivity to sensory input.
Social (pragmatic) Communication Disorder
Impaired social communication alone
Specific Learning Disorder
Difficulty learning, related to a specific area of function.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Rule out a learning disorder
Impairment in two environments
Onset before age 12
Inattention and/or hyperactivity
Pica
Eating of non-food substances
Rumination Disorder
Regurgitating food and continuing to chew it.
Language Disorder
Difficulty building vocabulary
Mostly in children ages 0-5
Simple sentences missing words
Childhood-Onset Fluency Disorder
Stuttering
Tourett’s Disorder
Vocal and motor tics
Persistent Motor/Vocal Tic Disorder
Either vocal or motor tics.
Encopresis
Repeated pooping in pants
Age 5 or older
Enuresis
Repeated peeing in pants
Age 5 or older
Separation Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety specific to an attachment figure
Duration: 4 weeks in children, 6 months for adult
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Anxiety across multiple domains
At least 6 months
Loss of sleep
Selective Mutism
Refusing to speak in certain situations
Social Anxiety Disorder
Fear of social situations
Withdrawal from social situations
Reactive Attachment Disorder
Child is withdrawn
Does not seek or respond to comfort
Resulting from neglect abuse or change in caregivers
Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder
Child attaches over-easily
No boundaries
Resulting from neglect abuse or change in caregivers
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Defiant
Problems with authority
Conduct Disorder
Violates the rights of others
law-breaking activity

Precursor to Antisocial Personality Disorder
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
Chronically irritable or moody 3x/week
Mood is negative all the time
Brief Psychotic Disorder
Symptoms up to 1 month.
Same symptoms as schizoprheniform and Schizophrenia, but different timeline.
Schizoprheniform
Symptoms present for 1-6 months.
Same symptoms as brief psychotic disorder and Schizophrenia, but different timeline.
Schizophrenia
Symptoms present over 6 months. Same symptoms as brief psychotic disorder and Schizophreniform, but different timeline.
Major Depressive Disorder
Symptoms present at least 2 weeks

Persistent Depressive Disorder
Depressed mood for 2 yrs in adults, 1 yr in child
Bipolar 1
Requires a 7 day manic episode for diagnosis

Hypomanic episode (4 days, less extreme)
Major depressive episode
Cyclothymic
Symptoms present for 2 years
Hypomanic
Low level depressive episode
Bipolar 1 with Psychotic features
Mood disorder is constant and psychotic features come in and out
Schizoaffective
Psychotic features are present all the time but mood disorder symptoms come and go
Bereavement
Symptoms are in response to the loss of a loved one.
Can be combined with MDD if biological symptoms are present and negative/critical thoughts.
Adjustment Disorder
In reaction to life symptoms
Symptoms must start within 3 months of stressor
If symptoms last longer than 6 months - persistent adjustment disorder
Not diagnosed in bereavement
Prolonged Grief Disorder
Severe impairment after the death of a loved one
Symptoms lasting over 12 months for adults
6 months for children
