ATOMEXITINE;
what are important monitoring parameters for
Atomextine?
all ADHD medication?
appearance or worsening anxiety, depression or tics
Pulse, BP, psychiatric symptoms, appetite, weight and height should be recorded at intiatooon and following each dose adjustment then 6 monthly

Max 120mg both children and adults
based on weight
80mg maintenance
but doses above 100 in children is not licensed

What are signs of overdose?
Amfetamines cause wakefulness, excessive activity, paranoia, hallacinations and hypertension followed by exhaustion, convulsions, hyperthermia and coma

Substance abuse
lower seizure threshold
psychotic disorders
susceptible to angle-close glaucoma .

Only used in 6 yrs or older

Caution when switching between products due to differenced in formulations
All contain different amounts of MR and IR components, affecting frequency, amount and timing, clinical effect.

What are HCP to do when considering switching patients to other products?
Follow the specific dosage recommendations for each preparation;
discuss the reasons for switching and changes in symptoms and side-effects;
take patient preferences into account when considering a switch;
provide counselling on administration of the new preparation, especially with regards to food;
follow current clinical guidance on prescribing by brand name, or by manufacturer name if generic;
avoid frequent switching between different preparations.

Agitation;
alcohol dependence;
anxiety;
drug dependence;
epilepsy (discontinue if increased seizure frequency);
family history of Tourette syndrome; susceptibility to angle-closure glaucoma;
