What do you do with morphine and someone with impaired kidney function?
Lower the dose
What do NSAIDS do?
Constrict afferent arterioles via inhibiting prostaglandins and lower GFR
What do ACEI/ARB do?
Dilate efferent arterioles
What can cause an allergic interstitial reaction?
Aminoglycosides, radiocontrast, NSAIDS, penicillin
What causes hypokalaemia
Diuretics
What causes hyperkalaemia?
Also, what drugs?
anything causing AKI
Drugs:
ACEI
ARB
All lower GFR so less secreted
What causes irreversible kidney damage?
NSAIDS
Aminoglycosides
What causes hyponatremia?
Loop diuretics, thiazide diuretics
What causes falsely elevated CK?
Trimethoprim
What causes hypercalcaemia?
Vit D/Calcium supplements
What causes hyperuricaemia?
Chemo
What causes rhabdomyolysis?
Statins, ciclosporin
What does prostate cancer lead to and why?
Metabolic acidosis due to bone mets and increased osteoclast action causing acidosis
