Relaxes smooth muscle of bronchial airways & pulmonary blood vessels

Anti inflammatory, CNS stimulant, prevents release of histamine
Albuterol
Relaxes smooth muscle, bronchodilation & Muchas drainage
Terbutaline
Stimulates Beta 2 receptors resulting in relaxation of smooth muscles & uterus
Ondansetron
Selectively blocks 5-HT3 serotonin receptors
Meperidine
Depress CNS & pain relief (binds to opioid receptors); smooth muscle relaxer/peripheral vasodilator & lowers BP; depress vasomotor & respiratory centers
Promethazine
Blocks histamine receptors, antiemetic effect through antimuscurinic actions of antihistamines; CNS sedative action by reducing stimuli to brainstem reticular system
Fentanyl
Relieves pain & anxiety by central effects (binds to opioid receptors); alters pain receptors & increases pain threshold
Nitroglycerine
Relaxes smooth muscle resulting in dilation of arterial & venous beds; vasodilation reduces preload and after load; myocardial O2 demand decreases; dilation of coronary arteries; reduces vaso spam & increases blood flow to ischemic areas; may reduce systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressures
Aspirin
Blocks peripheral pain impulses; prevents clots
Oxygen
Required for life; decreases ventilation & cardiac output; increases alveolar O2 tension; reduces magnitude & extent of ST segment changes during AMI
Morphine
Relieves pain & anxiety; depress respiratory, cough, & faso motor centers in medulla; may reduce myocardial O2 demand; stimulates parasympathetic nervous system resulting in decreased peripheral resistance, increase venous capacity & venous pooling, and decrease venous return
Diphenhaydramine
Strongly opposes actions of histamine by binding w/ histamine H1 receptor site; inhibet mast cell damage, preventing release of more histamine; associated sedative effect; anticholinergic drying mucous membranes & oral secretions; decrease vessel dilation & “leakiness” during allergic reaction; antiemetic & antipruritic effects
