Alendronate
Take on empty stomach at least 30 minutes before breakfast
** empty stomach = better absorption
Take with plain water (not coffee, juice, mineral water or milk)
Remain upright for 30 minutes or until first food
** ensure tablet reach stomach
Captopril
Take empty stomach 1 hour before food
Sinemet
Empty stomach, can take with food if upset stomach
Cilostazol
Take on empty stomach 1/2 hour prior to meal
Food can increase side effects
Entecavir
Empty stomach, better absorb
Ferosul
Empty stomach; best absorb
If upset stomach, can take with food
Avoid tea or coffee
Isoniazid
Take on empty stomach, best absorb
Levothyroxine
Take 30 to 60 minutes prior to meal
Mercaptopurine
Take on empty stomach, best absorb
May take with food if needed
Methotrexate
Take with or without food
** best on empty stomach but if nausea try taking with food
Avoid taking with food rich in milk dairy products
Reglan
Take 30 minutes before meal
Propranolol
Tablet best on empty stomach
Capsule can be taken with or without food, but be consistent
Proton pump inhibitor (protonix)
Take 30 minutes before meal
Repaglinide
Take 30 minutes before meal
If meal is skip, skip dose
Sucralfate
Take on empty stomach; 1 hour prior to meal
Tetracycline
Take empty stomach; take 1 hour prior to meal or 2 hours after meal
Take full glass of water and remain upright for 1 hour
Trospium
Empty stomach; take 1 hour prior to meal
Voriconazole
Empty stomach 1 hour prior to meal or after meal
Quetiapine ER
Empty stomach or light meal in the evening

Take with first bite
- moa: inhibits 2 enzymes that breaks down food into glucose
Slows glucose absorption resulting in lower postprandial glucose

Take with food to decrease stomach upset

Take immediately after meal for best absorption
