Danger- check for danger to yourself, bystanders and then patient before approaching
R stands for?
Response- check for a response from patient using COWS
What does COWS stand for?
Can you hear me?
Open your eyes?
What is your name?
Squeeze my hands?
What does S stand for?
Send for help- dial 000 or ask bystander to go look/call for help
A stands for?
Airways- use pistol grip to open mouth and check for objects blocking throat.
To remove put patient in recovery position and scoop out object using your fingers.
B stands for
Breathing- place hand on chest and ear above mouth to hear and feel breathing. If not breathing next step. If breathing out patient into recovery position
C stands for?
Compressions- if patient not breathing start compressions
30 compressions: 2 breaths
D stands for
Defib- until defib or help arrives continue compressions, when defib arrives follow instructions
