DRRM Flashcards
world risk report 2018, what are the four four components? And philippines is number?
Number 2
1. exposure to natural hazard
2. susceptibility depending on infrstructure,
3. food housing and economic framework
4. conidtion of coping mechanism
World Risk Report 2021, the Philippines is number?
8 we have done some efforts
Most deadliest natural hazard
Earthquake
Equation for Disaster Risk
Hazard x Exposure x Vulnerability / Capacity = Disaster Risk
Is a rise of sea level due to an incoming typhoon over the normal side. Multiple of this can occur during the duration of a storm
Storm Surges
the overflow of water from a river or other body of water due to heavy rainfall. Water flows downstream from higher areas to lower areas. This leads to a community becoming submerged in water
Flooding
What is the difference between tsunami and storm surge?
storm surge is a water pushed inland by very strong winds usually during the event of very strong typhoons. Meanwhile, a tsunami is water displaced by an earthquake. But they are both tidal waves
Is a movement of earth, rock, or debris, due to gravity. It can be caused by continuous heavy rainfall, strong earthquakes, or human activities
Landslide
the probability a volcanic eruption or related geophysical event will occur in a given geographic area and within a specified window of time.
Volcanic hazard
The knowledge and capacities developed to effectively anticipate, respond to, and recover from, the impacts of likely, imminent or current hazard events or conditions.
Preparedness
The concept and practice of reducing disaster risks through systematic efforts to analyze and manage the causal factors of disasters, including through reduced exposure to hazards, lessened vulnerability of people and property, wise management of land and the environment, and improved preparedness for adverse events
Disaster Risk Reduction
The systematic process of using administrative directives, organizations, and operational skills and capacities to implement strategies, policies and improved coping capacities in order to lessen the adverse impacts of hazards and the possibility of disaster
Disaster Risk Management
the systematic approach and practice of managing uncertainty to minimize potential harm and loss. It comprises risk assessment and analysis, and the implementation of strategies and specific actions to control, reduce and transfer risks
Risk Management
The outright avoidance of adverse impacts of hazards and related disasters.
Prevention
The lessening or limitation of the adverse impacts of hazards and related disasters.
Mitigation
