Q

You’ve been on the road for hours. It’s getting late into the night, you told your parents you’d be home soon, and your eyes keep sagging, tempting you to fall asleep. You only have a couple more hours until youget home. What should you do?

A

You should either let any passengers with a driver’s license drive the car, if they’re capable, or if you are alone, you should immediately pull over at a designated well lit rest area to get some sleep. Falling asleep on the road is one of the most dangerous things that can happen and can lead to serious traffic collisions.

A

Although the pedestrian is not obeying traffic laws, he or she must be given the right-of-way for safety reasons. She should slow down and wait for the pedestrian to safely cross.

Q

The sun is just going down, and traveling down a mountain road a little too fast, you realize that you’re skidding on ice. Everyone driving with you starts screaming and yelling, shouting that you are sliding. Being the calm, collected driver that you are, how do you best handle the situation?

A

When skidding or losing control on an icy road, the best thing to do behind the wheel is to steer in the direction of the skid. You will most likely regain traction, and continue driving, if not a little more cautiously, so next time you can prevent it from happening!
