Freeze Frame:
A still image that tells a story.
Choral Movement and Speaking:
A group of performers speaking or moving at the same time as an ensemble.
Hot seating:
Where a character is asked questions so the audience can find out more about them.
Swing debate:
Characters have a debate where a judge decides on who has the stronger argument.
Narration:
Performers speak directly to the audience to tell a story, give information.
Tableaux:
A series of still images connected through movement.
Monologue:
A long speech given by one actor.
Contact works/lifts:
Creating physical representations or storyline or image , could also be used for stage fighting.
Thought tracking:
The actor says the characters thoughts out loud - often used with freeze frame.
Direct address:
When a performer steps out of character and speaks directly to the audience.
Flashback/ forward:
A small action clip of a scene that happens seconds, days, months or years before or after the current moment.
Cross-cutting:
A drama techniques borrowed from the world of film editing where two scenes are intercut, happening at the same time on stage.
Soundscape:
A collection of sounds to create an atmosphere.
Slow motion:
Wear the movement in a scene is slow down - this could highlight the key point.
Conscience alley:
One person walked down an alleyway made by the group and listens to thoughts or advice.
