monologue (one long speech given by one char. to others), dialogue (conversation among characters), soliloquy (monologue of a char. to themselves or to the audience), asides (speech by one char. to the audience and the other char. don´t hear them)

high comedy vs low comedy
HC: appeals to the intellect and has a serious purpose
LC: focused on situation comedy, farce and slapstick
romantic comedy
involve extraordinary circumstances (magic, fairy-world, dreams) and the center is around two lovers who struggle to get together
farce
exaggeration and caricature of situation
