drama exam - questions Flashcards
Introduce the second task
The second task takes place in the home of Nicholas and Mrs Wibble, a few hours after the events of the first task. This scene is called keeping up with the wibbles, where Mrs. Wibblee has a great idea, but Nicholas has other plans…
Which piece was your favourite to perform?
My favourite piece to perform was the first piece because I felt we could bring the characters to life and set the scene for who they are. The first scene well introduces the characters, follows a structured storyline, and still has a few funny moments in it. Along with that, I feel like it better utilised all the props and setting.
Where are your performance pieces set? Describe where your characters are in your piece.
Our performances are set in the Wibbles house, further, the living room (I think). In the piece, Mrs is ironing clothes and washing up and cleaning, whilst Nicholas is trying to get ready for his job, at the police station. In the second piece, Mrs wibble is sitting on the couch watching the news and calling a friend, whilst Nicholas is coming home after he got fired.
How did you use your voice and body to bring your pieces to life
I used my voice in the first task by always shouting and staying in an angry tone. But when I wasn’t shouting at Nicholas I would talk in a stubborn tone whilst also sometimes talking in a condescending voice. I used my body by being very shut off with my body but also moving around my hand out of anger, and being uptight. But in towards the end of the second task I switch my approach, and when begging for nicholas to stay I would go on the floor and speak in a sad-pleading tone/ begging tone, while having my hands in a begging position.
How did you work together to create your imaginary surroundings?
We worked together to create our imaginary surroundings by emphasising the props but also having set in stone where we thought things were, like the cupboard being in the corner next to the fridge, where the ironing board was, the couch, chairs, all staying the same throughout the pieces added to making a concrete area in our minds.
What did you consider to be the funniest or most dramatic moment in your pieces? What vocal or physical skills did you use to show that to the audience?
I consider when Mrs wibble was putting an effort into shank of Nicholas’ pants to iron them the most dramatic/ funniest moment of the task. In this moment I would continuously grunt and shout, while Nicholas would do the same but in a more pleading and sad tone. And whilst we were doing this I would scrunch my face up to make it look like I’m having a hard time and I would bend my back to shown that I’m pulling my hardest, and Nicholas would hold on to his pants like it was life or death.
