What is a drainage basin?
A
It is a closer look at a river and includes: A Valley, Watershed, The Source, Tributaries, confluence, flood pains, river basin and the mouth and estuary.

What is a watershed?
A
The dividing line between one river basin and the next. It’s usually a ridge of higher land.

What is a confluence?
A
Where two rivers join.

What is a tributary?
A
Where a smaller river join the main one.

What is the source of a river?
A
Where the river originally starts, it could be from a mountain, a lake, a hollow or glacier (block of ice).

A
Rain falling in an area inside the watershed (the area between one river basin an the next.) feeds the river.
