DOP Guidelines Flashcards
What are DOP’s?
Pronouns that take the place of the direct object in the sentence. They answer the question of “who?” or “what?”, and represent the object that receives the verb’s action in a sentence.
List the DOP’s, both the ones used for people and things.
Me, te, nos, os, lo, la, los, las
What happens to the personal “a” used before a direct object when we replace it with a DOP?
Ex: Óscar besa “A” su esposa.
It gets removed!
Ex: Óscar la besa.
Where do we put DOPs when the sentence’s verb is conjugated?
In front of the conjugated verb! (For example, a DOP would go in front of present perfect verb)
Ex: Te he invitado. (I have invited you.)
Where do we put DOPs when the sentence’s verb is an infinitive?
We attach it to the end of the infinitive!
Ex: Yo voy a invitarTE.
Ex: Ella quiere probarLO.
Where do we put DOPs when the verb in the sentence is a gerund (present participle verb)?
We attach it to the end of the gerund and add an accent 3 vowels back!
Ex: Yo estoy hablándoTE.
