16
Q

What assumptions can be made about the complainant?

A

If the caller is the victim, at least one person in the household will know police patrols are responding. If the caller is a neighbor, there is a good chance neither the victim nor the subject will be alerted to your response. To keep responding patrols apprised of changes in activity, the caller should be kept on the line until after their arrival. In all cases, get a callback number.

17
Q

During the response phase, what must be done if there is a female involved in the incident?

A

If a female is involved in the incident, make efforts to dispatch a female officer to the scene.

18
Q

______ will be dispatched to provide needed experience.

A

The Flight Chief

19
Q

What notes have to be made or taken while en-route to the scene?

A

While en-route to the scene, note the make and model of any vehicles departing the immediate area of the disturbance, in case you later learn the assailant fled the scene.

20
Q

Details what happens during coordination prior to on-foot approach.

A

Coordinate to meet other patrols at an area away from the quarters in question (out of eyesight) to plan the approach. Do not respond code two or three within eyesight/hearing distance of the quarters. As you approach the quarters, scan for persons fleeing on foot or crouched in hiding. Also, look for anything which might tell you something of the family situation. Toys in the yard could mean there are children in the house; a fence might mean there is a dog, alcohol containers might mean alcohol is involved etc.`

21
Q

What is the role/responsibilites of the “contact officer”?

A

The senior patrolman should be designated as the “contact” officer. The patrolman’s initial responsibilities will be to establish contact with the disputants and handle most of the talking.

22
Q

What is the role/responsibilites of the partner?

A

The partner’s primary responsibility will be as an “over watch” watching for potential hazards.

23
Q

What is the goal in responding?

A

The goal in responding to the quarters is to make it to the door (opposite sides) without being seen by either disputant. One way to achieve this is to split up and have one officer circle around the rear of the quarters (use a tactical approach, ensure patrolmen duck under/take quick peeks into windows) while the other officer approaches from the opposite side.
