Define Domestic Abuse
Incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16+ who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.
What are the different types of domestic abuse?
1) Emotional
2) Physical
3) Psychological
4) Sexual
5) Financial
How does domestic abuse impact on physical health?
1) Traumatic injuries following assault e.g. Miscarriage, Fracture
2) Somatic Problems/Chronic Illness e.g. Headaches, Chronic Pain
3) Psychological e.g. PTSD, depression, anxiety
What would you do if someone was high risk of Domestic Abuse?
Refer to MARAC or IDVAS.
What assessment determines if someone is at risk of Domestic Abuse

What 3 potential indications of Domestic Abuse?
1) Delay in seeking help
2) Multiple minor injuries
3) Repeat GP/A&E attendances
4) Unwitnessed by anyone else
What are the 3 risk levels?
Standard: No likelihood of serious harm
Medium: Identifiable indicators of risk/serious harm, offender potential to cause serious harm
High: Identifiable indicators of imminent risk of serious harm
What are the different definitions of Refugees, Asylum etc?
Refugees: Person granted asylum and refugee status. Gives 5 years to apply for LTR
Asylum Seeker: Person makes application for status
Indef LTR: Person granted full refugee status and permanent residence
Define an unaccompanied child
Someone crossing international border to seek refugee status, under 18 and applying for asylum on own
