What does PCU stand for?
Partenrship Coordination Unit (PCU)
What are the responsibilities of PCU?
Partenrship coordinaion Unit:
- supporting divisional Officers by ensuring victim safety plans are in place and relevant for all victim
- Unit coordinates a multi-agency response to address risk and prevent escalation
What is the definition of domestic abuse according to the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018?
The behaviour would have one or more of these effects:
* Making a victim dependent on or subordinate to perpetrator
* Isolating the victim from friends, relatives or sources of support
* Controlling, regulating or monitoring victim’s day-to-day activities
* Depriving the victim or restricting their freedom of action
* Frightening, humiliating, degrading or punishing the victim
What is the police procedure when there is a report of potential domestic abuse?
Initial risk assessment
* Domestic Abuse questionnaire (DAQ)
Based on scores from DAQ risk fo domestic abuse is graded on a scale of:
* Standard
* Medium
* HIgh
What is the purpose of a MARAC meeting?
Multy-agency meetings
MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference)
* Increase safety, health and well-being of victims
* Reduce victimisation
* Improve agency coordination and accountability
* Improve safety and support for staff involved in high risk cases
What is the purpose of MATAC meetings?
Multi-agency meeting
MATAC (Multi-Agency Tasking and Coordination protocol)
- Identify perpetrators who present the greatest risk of harm
- Multi-agency information sharing
- Pro-actively investigate perpetrators
What does DSDAS stand for?
Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland
Who has the right to ask about domestic abuse records of an individual?
Who has teh power to tell the information?
Power to ask:
* Open to anyone who may have concerns about a new partners abusive past or
* has concerns about another person’s partner. E.g parent concerned about child’s new partner
Power to tell:
* Police received information about the safety of a person who may be at risk
What can NHSG staff do in terms of recognisng and reporting dopmestic abuse?
- Be observant / be curious
- Provide information about domestic abuse service
- Contact emergency services if required
- Discuss with line manger
- Any indication of child or adult protection issues – MUST BE REFERRED
