  1. student exhibits consistency in a cane technique, whether sideawalk travel or shorelining, then he may be ready for a new cane skill.
  2. displays basic orientation skills - locating and using landmarks - may be ready for compass directions, traffic, streets and their patterns, and sun for more advanced cues.
  3. When student can use clues to determine a cue and detect his exact location, he is using higher level orientation skills.
