Westbrook’s Integrated Management Model
Consists of three key elements: management systems, an organizations structure, and management’s orientation to people as inter-related building blocks to determine how the manager and the organization will interact with and be impacted by the model’s other two elements: internal and external business environments.

Strategy
In a systems context, strategy is one way of integrating organizational resources, including people, to meet the needs of forces or players external to the organization. These include customers, society and suppliers.
External Environment
Are elements that exists outside the organization but has direct impact upon it. • Customers • Competitors • Suppliers • The community • Regulators • Funding agencies
Internal Environment
The set of (adequate) internal resources that enable the organization’s successful operation (in facing challenges):
• The skill base of its workforce
• Key employee demographics
• Age and condition of its facilities
• Management style and organization culture
