How is the poem written? (Structure + form)

A

Villanelle, it’s 19 lines long, con sites of five 3line stanzas and it ends with a 4line stanza, first 2 lines are related throughout the poem which are introduced in the first stanza.

Metaphorical, men aren’t ready to go yet because their words/ their learning has made no dramatic impact on the world, they resist death when they know they should accept it

Verb- suggests that the emotions of the men as they are dying are that they aren’t ready to grieve the fact that they could of had more time, the good they have done is not enough, it is too frail

A

Tone at beginning was angry- at the end of the poem it was ac plea to desist dying but deep down speaker knows death is inevitable and he is powerless in the face of it
