Text records
Place to store machine-readable data
SRV record
Service record
-used to specify a host and port for a specific service
NS record
Name server record
-indicates which dns name server is the authoritative one for a domain
Dns resolver
Aka dns cache located on an individual host
Recursive lookup
Dns server will hunt it down and report back to your resolver
Interactive lookup
Your dns resolve will continue to query dns servers until it finds the one with the ip for the domain
