Q

Describe the process of semi conservative dna replication

A
  1. DNA helicase causes strands to unwind by breaking hydrogen bonds, forming a replication fork
  2. Each exposed strand acts as a template to which complimentary free nucleotides are attracted
  3. DNA polymerase helps join adjacent nucleotides (condensation reaction)and a sugar-phosphate backbone is formed + h bonds between complementary bases are formed
  4. DNA ligase seals strand
  5. Each new DNA molecule contains one original strand and one new strand
