Q

What is the process of semi-conservative replication?

A

-DNA unwinds as H bonds between complimentary bases are broken by DNA helicase
-DNA molecule separates into 2 strands
-both strands act as a template which free nucleotides attach to by complimentary base pairs
-nucleotides join together through condensation reaction with DNA polymerase
-each DNA molecule is now genetically identical to the original DNA molecule and contains 1 new strand and 1 original strand
