Dna Flashcards
1
Q
What is a codon
A
Sequence of 3 dna/rna that corresponds with a specific amino acid or stop signal
2
Q
Three phases of translation
A
1) initiation= ribosomes assemble around target mRNA, First tRNA is attached to the start codon
2) elongation= last tRNA transfers the amino acid to the large ribosomal subunit which binds it to the previous one (transpeptidation)
3) termination= stop codon, ribosome releases polypeptide
3
Q
What is a genome
A
Entire genetic material present in a cell of an organism
4
Q
What do tRNA carry
A
Specific amino acids
