Definition of Divorce

It’s a very special gift from God.
Catholic View on divorce
NO.
‘Marriage cannot be dissolve by any human power or for any reason other than death.’
Marriage a legal bond, the promises made before God cannot be broken.
There can be an annulment in 2 cases:
1) The person was psychotically unstable at the time.
2) There was some hidden information.
Protestant view on divorce
ALLOWED.
Humans make mistakes.
God forgives mistakes and sinners.
Conservative Christians
They disapprove of divorce and remarriage because it goes against Jesus’ teachings.
Non-religious views on divorce
ALLOWED
‘Though marriage is a useful institution… it is not “sacred”.’
SITUATION ETHICS- if it is the most loving thing to do then it’s acceptable
