Before meiosis, DNA unravels and replicates two copies of each chromosome forming chromatids
1) DNA condenses and forms double-armed chromosomes from sister chromatids
2) Meiosis 1, chromosomes arrange themselves in a homologous pair, which separates and the chromosome number halves
3)Meiosis 2, sister chromatids making up each chromatid are separated as the centromere is divided
4) 4 genetically different haploid cells are produced
