Atrophy
A
Decrease in size most commonly in muscle (disuse atrophy)

Hypertrophy
A
Increase in size (e.g. muscle exercise)

Hyperplasia
A
Increase in number of cells (goiter, pregnant uterus)

Metaplasia
A
Changes from one cell type to another. E.g. PCCE changing into stratified squamous in the lungs of a smoker

Dysplasia
A
Change in size, shape or function of a cell. Precancerous and last reversible stage

Anaplasia
A
Cancer = complete disorganization of a cell. E.g. Squamous cell carcinoma (m/c/c of lung cancer)
