What are simplex and duplex radio channels?

A

Simplex channels are single freq and only allow one transmission at a time.
Duplex channels are multiple freq and permit two way conversations with multiple lines and are restricted use so are more private.

What is the RMA comms procedure?

A

Comes through on ch16. Request transfer to duplex channel.
Radio check vessel on duplex channel.
Confirm ATMIST
Call Doctor and relay ATMIST.
Explain being placed on hold whilst arranging connect call.
Inform vessel of connect call commencing add doctor to call.
Mute and listen, recording ongoing conversation for reports.
Once conversation has ended ask vessel to standby and inform doctor of hold whilst connect call is terminates.
Debrief with Doctor over call.
Inform vessel of decision.
