Distance, Displacement, Speed And Velocity Flashcards
What is distance?
How far an object has moved and it’s scalar.
What is displacement?
Vector and measures distance and direction of a straight line from start to finish point.
What is speed?
How fast you’re going
What is velocity?
Speed in a given direction.
What is the equation for distance traveled?
Distance travelled(m)= speed (m/s) x time (s)
What is the equation for acceleration?
Acceleration(m/s2)=
change in velocity
___________________________
Time (s)
What is the equation for uniform acceleration?
Final velocity-initial velocity= 2x acceleration x distance
What does gradient mean on a distance time graph?
Speed
What is gradient on a velocity time graph?
Acceleration
What can reduce drag?
Keeping the object streamlined.
What increases as speed decreases?
Drag
What is terminal velocity?
Objects fall and gravity is more than friction so they accelerate.
Speed increases so friction builds up.
This reduces acceleration.
