Dissociative Identity Disorder
A dissociative disorder in which two or more distinct personalities exist in a person, often without awareness of newer personalities
Mood Disorders
Psychological disorders characterized by emotional extremes
Major Depressive Disorder
Lasting lethargy and general bad-feeligness
Bipolar Disorder (manic-depressive disorder)
A mood disorder characterized by alternating between depression and mania
Mania
A mood disorder characterized by a hyperactive, wildly optimistic state
Dissociative Disorders
Rare disorders of consciousness, where people appear to experience sudden loss of memory or change in identity
Schizophrenia
A group of several psychological disorders characterized by disorganized and delusional thinking, disturbed perceptions, and inappropriate emotions and actions
Delusions
False beliefs, often of persecution or grandeur, that may accompany psychotic disorders
Hallucinations
Sensory experiences without sensory stimulation
Paranoid Schizophrenia
Preoccupation with delusions or hallucinations, often with themes of persecution or grandiosity
Disorganized Schizophrenia
Disorganized speech or behavior, or flat or inappropriate emotion
Catatonic Schizophrenia
Immobility (or excessive, purposeless movement), extreme negativism, and/or parrot like repeating of another’s speech or movements
Undifferentiated Schizophrenia
Many and varied symptoms
Residual Schizophrenia
Withdrawal, after hallucinations and delusions have disappeared
