Main relay, basic reflexes

Filters information and relays important info to other brain regions

“Little brain” non verbal learning and memory. Time, modulate emotions, discriminate sounds and textures
Amygdala
“Two Bean sized neural clusters” controls rage and fear
Hypothalmus
“Small bean below thalmus” hunger, body temperature, sexual drive
Cerebral Cortex
Ultimate control and thinking center (main brain)
Frontal lobes
(Behind forehead) voluntary movement, memory, thousand things
Parietal lobes
(Top and rear) touch and body position
Occipital lobes
(Back of head) visual processing
Temporal lobes
(Above ears) hearing
Motor cortex
A part of the frontal lobe that controls movements
Sensory Cortex
Region next to motor cortex that receives sensory information
Thalmus
Sens information from brainstem to medulla (sensory switchboard, except smell)
Medulla
Base brain that controls heartbeat, breathing, and a few other basic processes
