consciousness can split into different streams
which stream is responsible for conscious plans, desires, and voluntary action
active mode of consciousness
which stream store and and process information without awareness
Passive Receptive Mode of Consciousness

Dissociative Amnesia
inability to recall autobiographic information but have intact procedural memories
localized amnesia
forgetting the entire occurrence of an event creating memory gaps
selective amnesia
can only remember certain parts of an event but not the others (kinda like when you get wasted)
continuous amnesia
memory loss extending to the present after the event
Dissociative fugue
extreme dissociative amnesia (can forget one’s identity and tends to end abruptly)
state dependent learning
People with dissociative disorders may particularly rigid and forget information processed under high arousal conditions
depersonalization and derealization
feeling detached from your body; feeling like your surroundings are unreal
