Q

Great Cardiac Vein: Supply, Location, Origin, Branches

A

Supplies: returns deoxygenated blood from the anterior surface of Left Ventricle and drains into coronary sinus into Right Atrium.

Origin: Coronary Sinus; borders the Vieussens valve of the coronary sinus (anatomic landmark between the coronary sinus and the great cardiac vein)

Location: anterior surface of the heart, through the anterior interventricular groove accompanied by the anterior interventricular artery

Branches: Left Marginal Vein

Q

Left Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve: Origin, Innervation, Location

A

Origin: The left recurrent laryngeal nerve comes from the left Vagus nerve

Location: Loops posteriorly around the arch of the aorta and ascends in tracheoesophageal groove of the aorta, posterior to the ligamentum arteriosum. Superior Mediastinum

Innervation: All intrinsic muscles of the larynx except the cricothyroid muscle

Q

Left internal Thoracic Arteries: Location, Origin, Branches, Supplies

A

Origin: Left Subclavian Artery

Locations: Posterior surface of chest wall

Branches: anterior intercostal arteries 1-6 space, the musculophrenic and the superior epigastric arteries at 6th intercostal cartilage

Supplies: Branches supply the skin and muscles of the anterior aspect of the thoracic cage and the superior part of the abdominal wall. Additionally, it provides blood supply for the breasts, parietal pleura, sternum, pericardium and thymus
