Dissection 4: Shoulder joint, posterior arm and posterior forearm Flashcards
What other muscle other than the deltoid is supplied by the axillary nerve?
Teres minor
What is the distal attachment of the deltoid
the deltoid tuberosity of the humerous
What lies between the supraspinatous tendon and the acromion process of the scapula
subacromial bursa
What gives sensory innervation to the medial aspect of the arm
anterior rami of C8, T1 and T2
Why is the left upper limb a common site or referred cardiac pain
via the intercostobrachial nerve and the medial and posterior cutaneous nerves of the arm and medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm
What gives sensory innervation to the lateral aspect of the arm
anterior rami of spinal nerves C5 and C6
What innervate the triceps brachii
the radial nerve
Where are the proximal attachment of the triceps brachii
infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula (long head)
superior (lateral head) and inferior (medial head) to the radial groove of the humerous
where does the triceps attach distally
the olecranon process of the ulna
What are the roots of the axillary nerve
C5 and C6
Where is the axillary nerve found
in the quadrangular space
What is the area of skin supplied by the axillary nerve known as
the badge patch (lateral aspect of the arm
What is in the radial grooce
the radial artery and the profunda brachii artery
What are the roots of the radial nerve
C5-T1
Describe the branches of the radial nerve
Divides anterior to the lateral epicondyle into the superficial and deep branches.
Deep branch winds down the radius into the supinator muscle which it supplies.
After the supinator the deep branch is renamed the posterior interosseous nerve and supplies the muscle of the posterior compartment of the forearm
