Cryptorchidism
A
Congenital failure of one or both testes to descend
Atrophy and hyaline replacement result if not surgically corrected before age 2 (Surgery is currently indicated with >1yr)
Significant increase in germ cell tumors (spec. seminoma)

Causes of testicular atrophy
A
Cryptorchidism, inflammation (e.g. mumps- orchitis), malnutrition, hypopituitarism, hormone therapy

Causes of male infertility
A
Cryptorchidism, Kartagener (loss of dyenin- immotile cilia), anorchia, absent vas deferent, Klinefelter, torsion, infarction, varicocele (generally on left side- could be due to occlusion in left renal vein)
