Exostoses vs. Osteoma
Exostoses are multiple tumours whilst osteoma is usually one and involve the bony deep part of ear canal
Population affected by exostoses
People with prolonged water exposure aka swimmer’s ear
Pathogenesis of exostoses
Due to chronic periostitis because of prolonged exposure to cold water leading to bony overgrowth

True benign neoplasm
Complications of rumours of external
They can have infections and compressions of the ear canal and lead to debris with bony obstructions that cannot be cleared effectively
Treatment of exostoses and osteoma
Topical antibiotics Canaloplasty Reduce exposure to cold water Regular inspection and cleaning of ear canal
Chondrodermatitis nodularis chronica helicis
Painful erythmatous nodule on pinna at superior aspect. Spontaneous. Caused by minor trauma or cold. Leads to perichondritis and inflammation. Treated with intralesional steroids or surgical excision
Squamous papilloma
Warty HPV lesion of External ear histology on excised sample confirms diagnosis
Manifestations of ceruminous tumors
Adenoma (benign) Adenocarcinoma Adenoid cystic carcinoma (both malignant)
