A

-smoking cessation-exposure to tobacco increases mucous production
-bronchodilator, corticosteriod-open up the airway
-breathing exercise, spirometry
-oxygen therapy as ordered
thorocentesis-take out pleural fluid between the pleural lining
-avoidance of aggravating factors

A

Pulmonary function test-demonstrate changes in pulmonary health, pt may get tested if not responding to bronchodilator

A

treatment is the same as COPD
diagnostic-the same as COPD the only difference is asthma has expiratory peak flow-monitor ability of an individual to exhale a specific volume of air. it order to measure the reactivity of their lungs and adjust asthma treatment

A

hypoxemia, hypercapnia, dyspnea on exertion and at rest, oxygen desaturation with exercise, and use of acessory muscle of respiration. PFT shows decrease vital capacity, chest x-ray reveals hyperinflated chest
