A
Act as barrier preventing entry of pathogens
Has microorganisms on surface that compete for space with pathogens
Produce sebum which inhibits pathogenic growth

A
Secrete mucus
traps microorganisms and contains lysosomes which destroy bacterial and fungi cell walls

What are some expulsive reflexes
A
Coughing, sneezing – eject pathogen-trapped mucus
Diarrhoea, vomiting – expel contents of the gut
