Identifying discrimination;
Is where someone-
•is treated unfairly because of who they are
•is treated unequally because of who they are
•experiences prejudice that had been put into practice
Types of discrimination-
Direct discrimination;
Treating someone worse, differently or less favourably because of their characteristics.
Examples include harassment- receiving abusive comments and victimisation- being treated badly because you complained
Types of discrimination-
Indirect discrimination;
When an organisation’s practice, policies or rules have a worse effect in some people than others.
An example is pregnancy and maternity discrimination- if pregnant women or new mothers are treated unfairly or are disadvantaged
