Describe the application procedure for plaque disclosing.

A
  1. Pt medical history checked and updated.
  2. Explanation of procedure and consent gained.
  3. Intra-oral check.
  4. Ask pt to rinse if necessary to remove food particles and heavy saliva.
  5. Apply lubricant to lips - vaseline
  6. Dry the teeth with 3-in-1 or cotton rolls (this can be omitted).
  7. Use a cotton wool pellet/tweezers (lockable), micro-brush or brush.
  8. Apply to all areas. Always protect the pt, especially clothing and extra-oral soft tissues; use mouth mirror to prevent spillage when transferring from solution to pt’s teeth.
  9. Examine distributions; ask pt to rinse gently.
