Discharge locations
LTAC- This is Long term acute care. Patient must be in ICU for 3 days to qualify for this.
Acute rehab- Also known as inpatient rehab or ARU. This is intensive. Patient must be able to handle Therapy (PT, OT, ST) for at least 3 hours a day. This can be divided up.
SNF- Skilled nursing facility. Alot of times people go here when they cant handle inpatient rehab. Its a little less intensive and provides 24/7 care
inpatient hospice- This is for when patient is suspected to live for only another 6 months. If they are this PT is not done because why would it make sense to give PT to someone on their deathbed
Home health care- This is for when someone needs physical therapy at home but are mainly independent. They can also get other therapies as well such as speech and OT.
Outpatient PT/OT/ST- This is the most common. The patient is able to get to the location and perform therapy without the need of all the hospital care.
