Disaster Recovery Flashcards
What’s synchronous replication?
Automatic, synchronised replication to multiple locations.
What’s asynchronous replication?
Non autonomous replication. Happens as and when the bandwidth and performance allow.
RTO means…
Recovery Time Objective.
The time it takes to fully recover from a disaster.
RPO means
Recovery point objective.
This is the acceptable data loss in time.
Explain Disaster Recovery Technique: backup and explore
Old fashioned style manual backups.
Explain Disaster Recovery Technique: pilot Light
Replicated / mirrored resources running in the background. But absolutely minimal version. Will need to be scaled and some donkey work will need to be done to make it live.
Explain Disaster Recovery Technique: Warm Standby
Replicated / mirrored versions of your production environment good to gonna small amount of work may be required to launch from a warm standby.
Explain Disaster Recovery Technique: Multisite
A complete, fully functioning version of prod. Ready to go at a moments notice.
Define Failback.
The process of copying data from a backup site, back to production.
