Triage, treat injuries, safety, food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. Use ABC’s rule
What is ABC rule of crises interventions
A- arousal- calm them down, provide safetly, comfort, consolation
B- behavior can be irrational and abnormal- assist in coping
C-cognition; assess reality testing, give facts and educate

What are goals of disaster management?
match victims with resources as needed, prevent complications, educate and control disaster
Efficient assessment during disaster include
know that there is no time for lengthy psychological interpretation, assess for self-harm, adequacy of support system, try to determine pre-crisis level of functioning, assess their perception of the crisis a( unbearable, unfair, end of life), listen to what client is experiencing- encourage verbalization, be present, listen reflect, paraphrase, offer reassurance that you will help and stay with them until support person arrives- be calm, reinforce client strengths - attempt to locate coping skills, respond in brief, concise sentences, give guidance, crisis disorganization makes it difficult to make decisions; no false assurances
