A

To encourage countries to cooperate
The Washington conference in 1921. Not organized by the League.
Rapallo Treaty in 1922, the USSR and Germany re-established diplomatic relations.
Dawes Plan in 1924 was a short-term loan organized by the USA to Germany after the hyperinflation crisis. Beginning of German economic recovery and boom.
The USA lent money to Germany to pay their reparations which were then paid to Britain and France which used that money to pay back the USA. It was a cycle of payment favoring the US.
Locarno Treaty in 1925- Germany agreed to the western borders set by the Treaty of Versailles. Led to Germany joining the League in 1926.
Kellogg-Briand Pact in 1928- 65 countries agrees not to use force to settle disputes.
The Young Plan- Reduced Germany’s payments.
Most of these points, if not all of them, were not organized in creating these treaties.
One of the biggest achievements of the League was said to be creating an international mindset among its leaders. One of the ways that the League managed this was by existing because both great and small powers thought it worthwhile to send their ministers.

Q

Encourage disarmament

A

To encourage countries to disarm
This was largely a failure by the League because nobody wanted to disarm.
There was an agreement in 1921 to reduce the size of their Navy’s but the League was not a part of this. This was called the Washington Conference with the USA, Britain, Japan, and France
League attempted a disarmament treaty in 1923 but it was rejected by Britain
In 1926 plans were made for a disarmament conference but no agreement was possible when it finally began in 1932.
In 1933 Hitler rejected any plans since no other countries had disarmed- Germany left the conference and the League.
