A
Above, toward the head. Eg eyes are superior to nose

A
Below, away from the head. Eg mouth is inferior to nose

Frontal, toward the front of the body

Back, towards back of the body

Medial
A
Toward midline of body. Eg nose = medial to eyes

Lateral
A
Toward side of the body. Eg eyes= lateral to nose

Proximal
A
Toward trunk ( near origin ) eg the knee is proximal to the toes

Distal
A
Away from trunk ( further from origin ) eg hand is distal to shoulder

Superficial
A
Closer to surface of body. Eg skin is superficial to ribs

A
Away from surface ( lungs are deep to ribs)
