Digoxin Flashcards
What is the range for digoxin
1 to 2
Pneumonic for key info
2 (Dont go over this range)
K (Potassium - low- can cause Digoxin toxicity
I Increases force and contraction of heart
D Diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting
N Nausea and Vomiting
E -
Y Yellow vision
S Need potassium SPARING diuretic because if potassium is spared then you wont suffer low potassium
Maintenance dose for AF
125 to 250 mcg - loading dose required too
Worsening or severe HF
62.5mcg to 125mcg OD - no loading dose required
Signs of digoxin toxicity
Yellow vision
Diarrhoea
Arrythmias
When is digoxin concentration taken
6 hours after a dose
What electrolytes are measured
Potassium (low levels can cause hypokalemia)
Magnesium (hypo can cause toxicity)
Calcium (high levels cause toxicity)
Oxygen (hypoxia can cause toxicty)
Interactions of digoxin
C CCB (increases levels)
R Rifampicin (decrease levels)
A Amidarone (increases levels)
S St. Johns Wart (increases levels)
E Erythromycin (increase concentration)
D Diuretics (decrease potassium)
