10
Q

What is the ESAT methodoly?

A

Method strongly influenced by the defence sector developed by the MIT (e.g. Boeing and Lockheed). It is an integrated, analytical framework for diagnosing and improving overall enterprise performance. Framework aiming to set up appropriate governance and an actionable transformation plan.

Q

What are the 5 building blocks of digital transformation?

A
  1. Operational backbone: a coherent set of standardized, integrated systems, processes, and data supporting a company’s core operations.
  2. Digital platform: repository of business, data, and infrastructure components used to rapidly configure digital offerings.
  3. Shared customer insights: organizational learning about what customers will pay for and how digital technologies can deliver to their demands.
  4. External developer platform: repository of digital components open to external parties.
  5. Accountability framework: distribution of responsibilities for digital offerings and components that balances autonomy and alignment.
17
Q

What are the 3 interacting elements developed by the 5 building blocks of digital transformation?

A
  1. People who understand what needs to be done and how to do it.
  2. Processes that guide a company from idea through delivery to support digital offerings.
  3. Technology that supports both efficient organizational processes and innovative digital offerings.
18
Q

Digitizing with digital technologies involves enhancing business processes and operations with SMACIT and related technologies. What does SMACIT stands for?

A

S: Social.
M: Mobile.
A: Analytics.
C: Cloud.
IT: IoT.

19
Q

The applications of digital technologies benefit a company by making it digital. True or False

A

False.

These applications of digital technology can certainly benefit a company, but they digitize a company; they do not make it digital. Digital expands and accelerates innovation. When companies become digital, they apply SMACIT and related technologies to deliver digital offerings.

20
Q

What is the difference between digitization and digital?

A

Digitization enhances operational excellence, while Digital enhances the customer value proposition.

21
Q

What is the change matrix?

A

Change matrix is a change management powerful tool, it enables the identification of current business process, and supports the analysis to integrate, modify new business processes leveraged by technology implantation.

22
Q

What are the 4 steps of change matrix? Describe them.

A
  1. Identify critical processes: managers should first list their existing goals, business practices, and ways of creating value for consumers. Current practices are then broken into constituent processes suggesting how they are accomplished. A second list will act as a “clean slate” and describe new or target practices.
  2. Identify system interactions: after describing existing practices, the team creates a horizontal triangular matrix to identify complementary and competing practices. Complementary processes reinforce one another whereas competing processes”.
  3. Identify transition interactions: next, the team constructs the Transition Matrix – a square matrix combining the horizontal and vertical matrices which helps determine the degree of difficulty in shifting from existing to target practices. The advantage of the transition matrix is that it shows the interactions involved in moving from existing practices to a clean slate.
  4. Score the existing complementarities: the triangular grid to the lower left provides a space for you to indicate whether these existing processes are complementary or competing. Define Complementary processes (+) and Competing practices (-).
23
