What are the features and their purposes of the digestive system?
A
Mouth= salivary gland makes saliva containing mucus and amylase
Oesophagus= circular longitudinal muscles in wall link mouth to stomach
Liver= makes bile
Stomach= muscular bag holds 1 litre of food but stretches to hold more
Pancreas= connected to duodenum
Small intestine= absorbs nutrients instead of blood
Large intestine= absorbs water stores fecis
Rectum
Anus= end of digestive system

A
Breakdown of large food molecules into small ones by enzymes
Happens on mouth/ stomach/ small intestine
